Geng: What should it be based on?
ก้อย: ตอบคำจ้ำจี้ผลไม้ดีกว่า ก้อยขอเริ่มก่อนนะ จ้ำจี้ผลไม้ แตงไทย แตงโม
Goi: Names of fruits would be best. Let me start, OK? ‘Jam jee pon-la-maai dtaeng-tai dtaeng-moh’.
เก่ง: ส้มโอ ลำไย
Geng: ‘Som-oh lam-yai’.
ก้อย: มะไฟ มะเฟือง
Goi: ‘Ma-fai ma-feuang’.
เก่ง: อื้ม คิดไม่ออก ไม่รู้จะเอาผลไม้อะไร เฮ่ย พี่ยอมแพ้แล้ว
Geng: Hmm, I can’t think of any more fruit names. Heesh, you win!
ก้อย: งั้นก้อยให้พี่เก่งแก้ตัวอีกทีถ้าตอบคำถามนี้ได้ถูก
Goi: In that case, I’ll let you have another go if you can answer this question correctly.
เก่ง: ได้เล้ย(เลย)
Geng: You’re on!
ก้อย: คำว่า ลำไย ใช้ สระใอไม้ม้วน หรือ ไม้มลาย
Goi: Is the word ‘Lam-yai’ spelled with a ‘Maai muan’ or ‘Maai ma-laai’?
เก่ง: อ้อ ง่ายนิดเดียว ลำไย ที่เป็นชื่อผลไม้ใช้ สระไอไม้มลาย แต่คำว่า ใย เช่น ใยบัว ใยแมงมุม ใช้ สระใอไม้ม้วน
Geng: Ah! That’s easy! ‘Lam-yai’, which is the name of a fruit, is spelled with a ‘Sara ai maai ma-laai, but the word ‘Yai’ for example ‘Yai bua’ and ‘Yai maeng mum’, are spelled with a ‘Sara ai maai muan’.
ผู้บรรยาย: ลำไย ใช้ สระไอไม้มลาย ใยบัว ใช้ สระใอไม้ม้วน
Narrator: ‘Lam-yai’ uses a ‘Sara ai maai ma-laai’. The word ‘Yai bua’ uses a ‘Sara ai maai muan’.

‘Jam jee’ (จ้ำจี้), taken separately literally means ‘to use one’s finger or something to else to poke somebody quickly and repeatedly’, however as a compound word it is the name of a type of Thai children’s game. It is also the first word of the song that is sung when playing the game. See: เพลงประกอบ เกม การละเล่น จ้ำจี้มะเขือเปราะ.
‘Pon-la-maai’ (ผลไม้) basically means ‘fruit’.
