Wi-chian maat: Si Sawat, today Pee Goy is not going to school, huh?
สีสวาด: พี่ก้อยปวดศีรษะจ้ะ ให้พี่เก่งช่วยไปลาคุณครูที่โรงเรียนแล้ว
Si Sawat: Pee Goy has got a ‘Bpuat see-sa’ and has enlisted the help of Pee Geng to ask the school for permission for her to be absent from school.
วิเชียรมาศ: ปวดศีรษะ นี่หมายถึง ปวดหัว ใช่มั๊ย(ไหม) สีสวาด
Wi-chian maat: ‘Bpuat see-sa’ here means ‘Bpuat hua’, right? Si Sawat?
สีสวาด: ใช่จ้ะ วิเชียรมาศ ศีรษะ หมายถึง หัว ไง
Si Sawat: Yes, it does, Wi-chian maat, because ‘See-sa’ does mean ‘Hua’ after all.
วิเชียรมาศ: แล้ว ศีรษะ เนี่ยะ(นี่อ่ะ)สะกดยังไง(อย่างไร)หลอ(หรอ)
Wi-chian maat: So, how is this ‘See-sa’ spelled?
สีสวาด: ศ ศาลา สระอี ร เรือ ษ ฤๅษี สระอะ
Si Sawat: ‘Sor Saa-laa’ ‘Sa-ra Ee’ ‘Ror Reua’ ‘Sor Reu-see’ ‘Sa-ra a’.
วิเชียรมาศ: อ้าว สะกดอย่างงี้(นี้)หรอ ชั้น(ฉัน)นึกว่า ศ ศาลา ร เรือ สระอี ษ ฤๅษี สระอะ ซะอีก
Wi-chian maat: Oh! So it’s spelled this way, huh?! And here I thought that it was spelled ‘Sor Saa-laa’ ‘Ror Reua’ ‘Sa-ra Ee’ ‘Sor Reu-see’ ‘Sa-ra a’.
สีสวาด: ไม่ใช่จ้ะ เพราะเป็นคำที่มีความหมายเดียวกันกับ ศิระ ที่แปลว่า หัว เลยต้องคงรูปไว้ตามเดิม ให้จำไว้ว่า เขียน ศีรษะ(สี-ระ-สะ) อ่านว่า ศรีษะ(สี-สะ)
Si Sawat: That isn’t so because it’s a word that has the same meaning as ‘Si-ra’, which translates to ‘Hua’, so the orthographic appearance of the latter, the original word, is preserved. Just remember this: spell it as ‘See-ra-sa’, but read it as ‘See-sa’.

‘Kun kroo tee rohng rian’ (คุณครูที่โรงเรียน) which literally translates to ‘(the) teachers in the school’ is a typical colloquial-ish way to refer to ‘(the) school’. Another example would be the use of ‘Kon tee baan’ (คนที่บ้าน) which literally means ‘(the) people in the house (or home)’ to refer to ‘(the) family’.
‘See-sa’ (ศีรษะ) means ‘Hua’ (หัว) which means ‘head’ as in ‘the part of the body above the neck where the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and brain are’. So ‘Bpuat see-sa’ (ปวดศีรษะ) means ‘Bpuat hua’ (ปวดหัว) which means ‘(to have / get a) headache’.
